4. Needs, Rights, responsibilities and privileges of prisoners
 
  Article 21-Responsibilities of prisoners  
21.1 Responsibilities of prisoners  
  Every prisoner is responsible for their own actions and good conduct.
 
  The allocation of certain privileges, including the classification of a person to a type of correctional facility is conditional upon a prisoner upholding their responsibilities as listed in this code.  
 
  Responsibility of personal development
It is the first responsibility of every prisoner that they are and remain dedicated to a program of personal development to improve character, to learn new positive skills and to take the experience of lawful detainment as a unique opportunity to change their life for the better.

 
 
  Responsibilities of a honorable character
It is the first responsibility of honorable character to respect one's self, living quarters, personal health, hygene and appearance.
The second responsibility of honorable character is to respect and defend the rights of fellow prisoners.
The third responsibility of honorable character is to remain resolute to personal development, improvement and positive goals.
The fourth responsibility of honorable character is to honor your word such that your word when spoken or written is considered your bond.
The fifth responsibility of honorable character is to respect the rules of the corrections facility and authority of corrections officers, whether or not they themselves behave honorably.
The sixth and final responsibility of honorable character is to forgive yourself for the things you have done even if others do not, to never give up hope, nor belief that you can make a positive contribution to society in some way.
 
21.2 Public display of the responsibilities of honorable character  
  It is a condition of this code that in every corrections facility the responsibilities of honorable character is displayed in sufficient public places so that it might be visually sighted by each and every prisoner at least once a day.
