| 17.1 |
Justice and the proper operation of
police |
| |
While offences against society may be well formed, while penalties may be wisely considered, while all laws may be fair, it is the proper operation of the police in pursuing and prosecuting crime that has the most significant effect on societies sense of law and order.
| |
When petty crimes go unpunished, the people feel threatened by groups of youth loitering the streets, then citizens see their local police stations close based on illogical economics, then a societies sense of law and order diminishes. |
| |
But when people see their police patrolling the streets instead of just in vehicles, when they see local police stations, when they see minor crimes being punished and zero-tolerance, then they know that law and order has returned to their cities. |
| |
Therefore the proper and precise operation of the police and the administration of police concerning both criminal and civil hearings is of vital importance ensuring that justice prevails in Asia Union. |
